Description

Deviation E-0034A-H, also known as the Shattered Skybox Occurrences is a dangerous, randomly occurring event that causes the current skybox in a game to warp and distort, eventually settling into a "shattered" state. The lighting's overall tint also gradually changes to match the color of the new skybox. These distorted skyboxes are often very intricate, and many players stop playing the game entirely to stare at the skybox. It is unknown what causes E-0034A-H to appear and shatter the skybox, it seems to be entirely random.

E-0034A-H was originally first reported to RDD when an instance of it appeared in multiple "Egg funnel" games during the 2008 Eggstravaganza.

Behavior

It is advisable to not look at the sky if you notice any distortion or movement, as users have been documented to stare at the sky for hours or days at a time. Once a user looks at the distorted sky in any way for 5-10 minutes they will slowly begin to turn into an instance of H-0034B-S.

Users report occurrences of E-0034A-H to have a striped, fractal-like, distorted appearance. Reports vary in details such as colors and types of distortion. Users that look away from the skybox just fast enough to not become H-0034B-S describe the feeling of staring at the skybox as "horrifying, but addictive in a way". Such users should be kept away from E-0034A-H instances as the likelihood of them becoming H-0034B-S is greatly increased.

History

E-0034A-H first happened in early 2004, where it was quickly patched out via the very first official skybox, known as null_plainsky.

In 2007, many skyboxes were uploaded onto the roblox platform, after user skyboxes became widespread, occurrences of E-0034A-H decreased by about 90%.

In March 20, 2008, Roblox released the first Eggstravaganza event, during this event, several different types of eggs would fall from the sky, some requiring puzzles to be collected. Users used the spawning behavior of these eggs to their advantage, creating Egg Funnel games to AFK in and collect eggs. For an unknown reason, E-0034A-H became incredibly active during this period, especially in Egg Funnel games. This event alone created over 250 instances of H-0034B-S, which can still be found in these games to this day.

After the events of the 2008 Eggstravaganza, Roblox quickly took down any information or evidence about H-0034B-S or any of the other effects E-0034A-H can have on a person.

Once RDD contained the deviation, Roblox quickly set out to claim that it was them who “fixed” the bug causing E-0034A-H.
